What is UFA / UMCG?
The Undergraduate Finance Association / Undergraduate Management
Consultants Group (UFA/UMCG) is a business club comprised of students
interested in finance and consulting. UFA/UMCG's mission is to educate
U.C. Berkeley students about these fields and what job opportunities exist
in these fields. To accomplish this, UFA/UMCG sponsors events that link
Berkeley students with firms and professionals in these fields.
In 1985,
a group of students interested in finance organized a forum to disseminate
information on the aspects of and career opportunities in investment
banking, drawing participation from the top firms from across the nation.
Due to the success of and response to the investment banking forum, these
students subsequently joined together to form the Undergraduate Finance
Association. Three years later, another group of students interested in
management consulting sponsored a management consulting forum that
attracted prestigious consulting firms from across the nation as well, and
formed the Undergraduate Management Consultants Group.
UFA and UMCG later
merged to serve as the primary contact point for investment banks,
management consulting firms, and other finance-related firms wishing to
educated undergraduate students about their respective companies. The
club's combined resources have attracted some of the most prominent
professionals in finance and consulting to its events. UFA/UMCG has since
expanded its repertoire of forums to include an annual Investment
Management Forum and an annual Women and People of Color in Finance and
Consulting Forum.
In addition to being extremely successful in
bringing
students in contact with professionals at career forums, UFA/UMCG also
provides interview, resume, and graduate school information workshops.
The club also produces invaluable reference tools such as annual
corporate, internship, and alumni directories for its members.
UFA/UMCG
continues to excel in its mission to inform its members about what
specific job opportunities exist and how to obtain a job within these
highly competitive industries. The group's commitment to its
members,standard of excellence, and professionalism have developed a
reputation for UFA/UMCG that encourages the top firms to seek UFA/UMCG
members for employment.
