University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas.

B.S. with honors, Electrical Engineering, December 1988.

EXPERIENCE

University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, California.
1996-Present Visiting Postdoctoral Researcher. Responsibilities include basic research, project management, graduate student research supervision, grant proposal writing, and report generation for research on automated vehicles within the California Partners for Advanced Transit and Highways (PATH) project and on power plant outage planning in conjunction with General Electric.

Stanford University, Stanford, California.

1993-1996 Research Assistant. Applied optimization, decision analysis, and economics to evaluate issues in telecommunications policy.

Winter 1995 Teaching Assistant, EES 221A (Probabilistic Analysis - a graduate course covering probability and statistics). Conducted problem sessions, created exam questions, and held office hours.

InfoCom Research, Inc., Tokyo, Japan.

1992 Visiting Scholar. Researched and modeled various aspects of the Japanese mobile telecommunications industry.

Alantec, Fremont, California.

Summer 1990 Consultant . Wrote two user manuals for Local Area Network hardware and software products. Designed graphical interface for a software application in a Sun workstation environment.

Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

1989 to 1990 Member of Technical Staff in the Space Systems Organization. Devised a communication protocol for an information collecting satellite subsystem. Ported signal processing algorithms from a Sun environment to a PC environment.

Bell-Northern Research (BNR), Richardson, Texas.

Summer 1988 Summer Intern . Supported users of Meridian DVS (Data-Voice Systems). Troubleshot hardware and software (including Informix) problems for Meridian DVS.

Winter 1987 Winter Intern . Participated in construction of a $2 million central computer center. Planned and assembled several bays of combinations of LAN interface units, modem eliminators, modems, and other communications components.

Summer 1987 Summer Intern . Extensively researched various topics in the telecommunications industry, using research reports, results of discussions with BNR designers, and various industry publications to support findings. Helped BNR to find the most lucrative and technically feasible areas in which to focus future resources. Wrote or co-wrote three reports and gave corresponding oral presentations.

Winter 1986 Winter Intern . Researched the feasibility of a CCS#7 (Common Channel Signaling #7) monitor for BNR use. Used various publications and standards specifications for research and compiled findings into a comprehensive report.

Summer 1986 Summer Intern . Wrote C code for the DNX 250. Developed user interface software in C for the SL-100 P-Phone debugging monitor.
