     Good morning. As you may know, Acme Engineering is developing a new magnetic disk drive for our next product line. After reviewing your files, we've decided to appoint you the chief engineer for this project. You will be given full technical and financial support to develop the best product possible.

     Your goal will be to design a mass-produced magentic disk drive for the desktop personal computer market. This is a very competitive market. Money and time-management are crucial.  The specific design goals can be found at the end of this message.

     You will be granted full access to our multimedia information database.  Feel free to consult it as much as you want.  In addition you may consult external experts about specific design issues.

     Remember, time management is just as important as cost management. A delay in time-to-market can cost Acme Engineering a very large market share.
