Quarterly Report - January 1, 1998

Prepared by Alice M. Agogino (Associate Dean of Engineering) and Youhao Jing (Graduate Research Assistant).

Project Objectives and Milestones for Quarter.
This quarter's focus is the development of the online curricula related to MESA competitions. Our plan is to create both general and MESA design specific courseware on our interactive MESA website. During this quarter, we have created a virtual learning center on our MESA homepage, which features online math, science and engineering curriculum relevant to MESA competitions as well as math-based career resources. We also created a graphics gallery web page which hosts a collection of video clips and photographs from previous MESA competitions. One planned objective we are still working to complete is the creation of a web page with case studies of MESA bridge and car designs. All of these milestones were met.

Problems and Obstacles.
The computer facilities currently available at the MESA school sites are not adequate, especially with regard to the network access. This limited some of our web courseware designs.

Programmatic Changes.
No programmatic changes were made during this quarter.

Evaluation Data Collected.
The project has not yet been deployed and thus no evaluation data are available.

Reports, Documents, Publications, or Other Work Produced.
The only publication produced during this quarter was the first version of the Interactive MESA WWW pages at: http://garcia.me.berkeley.edu/~mesa/mesa_beta/index.html
