Quarterly Report - July 1, 1997

Prepared by Alice M. Agogino (Associate Dean of Engineering) and Kamau Bobb (Graduate Research Assistant).

Project Objectives and Milestones for 1st Quarter.
Work with State-wide MESA to put the MESA Design competition rules on- line. Collect video, photographs and other media of the Spring '97 and previous competitions. Digitize these media elements, create html documents and post on the World Wide Web. All of these milestones were met.

Problems and Obstacles.
Unfortunately most of the materials from previous competitions were not archived. We were able to locate one video and some photographs. These were digitized and put on the Interactive MESA web pages at: http://best.me.berkeley.edu/~aagogino/IU/prev_videos.html. We are still working with the MESA instructors to better define goals and assessment measures. We are concerned that MESA students and instructors may not have adequate access to the internet.

Programmatic Changes.
None yet. We hope to be able to add an additional algebra component based on the linear programming course material and design projects from the MESA Summer Academy - 1997.

Evaluation Data Collected.
The project has not yet been deployed and thus no evaluation data are available.

Reports, Documents, Publications, or Other Work Produced.
The only publication produced during this quarter was the first version of the Interactive MESA WWW pages at: http://best.me.berkeley.edu/~aagogino/IU/index.html
